Move your notes from Notion
Antescript imports the zip Notion’s own export makes. Your pages keep their titles, nesting, order and links, and it works on the Free plan.
Export from Notion
- In Notion’s settings, export all workspace content.
- Choose Markdown & CSV, and turn on Create folders for subpages.
- Download the zip and leave it zipped. A large export can arrive as several parts inside the one zip; import it as it downloads all the same.
Import the zip
Sign in, choose Import at the foot of the sidebar and pick the zip. On a new workspace, Bring notes in on its front has a From Notion choice that opens the same picker. Pick the group of the sidebar the pages go in, or a new one, and they appear there as a page tree.
What comes across
- Pages, nesting and order. Each page keeps its title, taken whole from its heading where Notion cut the file name short, and sits under its parent in Notion’s order. Two pages with the same title stay two pages.
- Links. Links between the exported pages keep working, notion.so links to them included.
- Callouts stay callouts.
- Images and files come along, including images Notion writes into the page’s text rather than beside it.
- Databases each become a page with a table of their rows, each row’s title a link to its page under it. A row’s page lists its properties at the top as a bulleted list, one to a line, and a relation becomes a link to the page it names.
What stays behind
Page icons, covers and comments aren’t in Notion’s Markdown & CSV export, so they can’t come across. Antescript has no databases, on purpose: a database arrives as a page holding a table of its values, without its views, filters or formulas.
On the Free plan
Free imports one file at a time, but a whole export from Notion imports on any plan, Free included. Its images and files count toward your storage: 1 GB on Free, up to 10 MB a file, and 20 GB on Starter, up to 50 MB a file.
After the move
From then on your pages are markdown underneath. Export one as a .md file, or the whole workspace as a zip that imports back the same; Markdown has the details. The guide’s Bring notes in and out covers every way in and out.
